From Fon Wiki
[edit] Which WIFI device can be used on a FONera?
- Every device that is compliant with 802.11b/g wifi ... is compliant with FON.
- By default FON will broadcast 2 wireless networks
- a WPA-personal with TKIP encryption wireless network called MyPlace
- This will need at least Windows XP SP 2... downgrading to "WEP" is possible but not advisable (security concerns)
- an "open" network without password/encryption
- This open network will ask for a "browser" to enter a username/password
- or for a WISPr client which will enter your FON username/password.
- Examples are : Skype Wifi Phone, SanConnect, Commodore Gravel In Pocket
